Sandy Bridge Processors

Intel's Sandy Bridge processors are supposed to begin shipping in the first half of 2011. What does this mean for gamers? Hopefully, improved performance and better mobility (for laptops).

The Sandy Bridge processors include the integrated graphics controller and will hopefully reduce power consumption. Unfortunately, from what is known at this time, they will not be very overclocker friendly. However, "Turbo Mode" will now work with the integrated graphics processing dynamically.

From some tests by AnandTech, it looks like these processors are about 10% faster than the current processors with similar clock speeds, while maintaining similar heat output.

This series of processors looks very good for mobile gaming, but I'm not sure how much they will affect desktop processing. What are your thoughts?

Its quite ways off, but I wonder what the next series of processors will bring forth. Its amazing to think of how far we've come in computing. Just think of how far we'll be in 20 years. Wow.
